The Celiac Disease Foundation is proud to continue our partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital in supporting engaging patient education events. Now everyone can experience recordings of Celiac Smarts, presented October 1, 2023. We participated in this one-day symposium that featured learning opportunities about celiac disease and the gluten-free diet for the health care and celiac patient communities. The day looked at the history of celiac disease, new advances in diagnostic methods, clinical trials for celiac drug development, and how research, multi-disciplinary clinical excellence, and culinary innovation have paved the way to a better understanding of this genetically mediated autoimmune disease. The event was available in-person and live-streamed for virtual attendees.

Attendees heard from speakers from Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Mass General Hospital for Children. Foundation CEO Marilyn Geller spoke in the second session about the importance of patient advocacy. As the leading patient advocacy organization for celiac disease, the Foundation works each and every day to ensure that the patient voice is elevated to the Halls of Congress and has a meaningful impact on the decision-makers there.
