Bethlehem, PA. (April 8, 2021) — Mikey’s, maker of gluten-free pizza pockets, breakfast pockets and baked goods reaffirmed its support for the Celiac Disease Foundation today by renewing its sponsorship for a second year. The Celiac Disease Foundation is a national patient advocacy organization dedicated to accelerating diagnosis, treatments, and a cure for celiac disease through research, education, and advocacy initiatives.

Chef Mike Tierney founded Mikey’s because he noticed so many gluten-free packaged foods were filled with unnecessary ingredients and preservatives. He decided to use real ingredients from his own kitchen to create convenient gluten-free meal options so that people with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity could enjoy their favorite foods without worry. In addition to being gluten-free, all of Mikey’s pizza pockets, breakfast pockets, English muffins, tortillas and pizza crust are grain-free, dairy-free and soy-free.

“When people are diagnosed with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, the focus is often on having to give up certain foods. We wanted to make it easy for people to keep enjoying all of their favorite foods and go on living their normal lives,” Tierney said. “The Celiac Disease Foundation does such important work to improve the quality of life for people with celiac disease every single day, and supporting their mission is a natural fit for our brand.”

“We are delighted to continue our work with Mikey’s, a company that is committed to raising awareness of celiac disease and understands the needs of our community,” stated Marilyn G. Geller, Celiac Disease Foundation Chief Executive. “Their innovative, convenient products like the gluten-free hand-held pockets have been a game-changer for those seeking a safe, quick meal or snack in today’s busy world, and we welcome their continued support.”

Every Mikey’s product is certified gluten-free by GFCO.org so that customers never have to worry about gluten cross-contact. In 2020, Mikey’s introduced a line of colorful superfood tortillas that make gluten-free tacos, burritos and quesadillas more nutritious and fun. In 2021, the brand will also be expanding its vegan and plant-based offerings to include four varieties of hand-held pockets.
