Last month, the Celiac Disease Foundation had the privilege of sponsoring the 2024 International Celiac Disease Symposium in Sheffield, UK.

Joining research studies and clinical trials is the only way to help scientists better understand this autoimmune disease and ultimately find a cure for celiac disease. This spring, I joined one of those important trials, funded by the Foundation, to help researchers with the development of a revolutionary new screening tool for celiac disease.

As we continue our journey toward advancing awareness and understanding of celiac disease, it is crucial that we reflect on health equity and the persistent clinical disparities within our community—so that together we can confront these factors and dismantle barriers hindering access to care and support.

In our pursuit of critical federal support for celiac disease, we understand that true progress requires a multifaceted approach. While government support is invaluable, we also recognize the power of strategic collaboration with the private sector to drive the much-needed change our community deserves.

As the mother of a child with celiac disease, I understand the mix of emotions that Halloween can bring for our community. Navigating school, parties, and trick-or-treating with a child with celiac disease comes with its own set of concerns.

As we head into fall, I am happy to share that our 2023 Virtual Turkey Trot is right around the corner – and our team is gearing up for a terrific event! As our biggest annual fundraiser helping move us toward treatments and a cure for celiac disease, the Turkey Trot offers our community a wonderful opportunity to promote our shared mission.

At CDF, we deeply value hearing stories from our patient community. Your stories are a pivotal part of our efforts to build awareness and fight for research funding. 

Research is pivotal to the mission of the Celiac Disease Foundation, and so I’m excited to provide you with an update on the groundbreaking findings of a recent study conducted for the European Union’s Joint Research Centre (JRC).

As we look toward the summer months, the team here at the Celiac Disease Foundation is actively working on a number of new projects that are vital to elevating our mission to promote diagnosis, treatments, and a cure for celiac disease.
