Los Angeles, CA – July 1, 2015 – Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF), the nation’s leading disease advocacy organization for celiac disease, is pleased to announce its iPhone and Android app for the celiac.org Gluten-Free Allergy-Free Marketplace. Underscoring its role as the leading resource for millions of Americans with celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders, this app expands CDF’s reach to mobile users, following the launch of the Gluten-Free Allergy-Free Marketplace on celiac.org, while also improving and simplifying the user experience. Currently, more than half of all visitors to celiac.org originate from mobile devices.
Through both the website and the new mobile app, the Gluten-Free Allergy-Free Marketplace showcases products and services from companies that care about the gluten-free and allergy-free community, and who have made a deep commitment to supporting CDF’s mission of diagnosis, treatment, and a cure for celiac disease.
“We are thrilled to launch the Marketplace app for iPhone and Android. The app, which is aesthetically designed and easy to navigate, will offer more people a convenient and efficient way to ease the burden of living with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity,” said Marilyn G. Geller, Chief Executive Officer of Celiac Disease Foundation. “Our goal is to create the best, most accessible resource for the gluten-free community. We hope to revolutionize the gluten-free shopping experience, improving the quality of life for individuals with gluten-related disorders.”
The Marketplace app allows consumers to browse by dietary preferences, including special medical, dietary, and religious requirements, and view product pictures, ingredients, and nutrition facts. Marketplace users can connect with companies for coupons, discounts, and recipes, create shopping lists, and support CDF by purchasing products directly from Amazon with a single click. CDF’s Gluten-Free Allergy-Free Marketplace is the only comprehensive one-stop shop for alternative dietary needs. The Marketplace transforms gluten-free shopping, making specialty foods, services, and products easily accessible to the public anywhere they live. As important, app users also have efficient access to CDF’s other online tools, including the Symptoms Checklist, Healthcare Practitioner Directory, 7-Day Gluten-Free Meal Plan, and much more.
It is estimated that as many as three million Americans have celiac disease, and millions more have non-celiac gluten sensitivity. With celiac.org receiving more than 500,000 unique visitors per month, with a growing presence on social media, and with the launch of the Marketplace app, CDF is upholding its promise to educate more people, touch more lives, and better serve the celiac and gluten-free community. Mobilization and internationalization are priorities for Celiac Disease Foundation this year, and the launch of the Marketplace app is just the first of many new additions to CDF’s growing list of resources and tools available to the public.
