The first annual Team Gluten-Free Turkey Trot in Oyster Bay, NY drew 125 participants and raised nearly $25,000! A picture perfect day on the beach greeted our families, who were welcomed by tables filled with gluten-free food and Team Gluten-Free swag.
This year’s participants ranged from age four through 85, with our youngest medal winner being just nine years old! Though we had timers on the course for our runners, people soaked in the sun and took pictures on the beach, enjoying the last day of warm weather in New York.
The Turkey Trot also offered an opportunity for families to meet and share their personal celiac disease stories, with a number of participants registering to become Celiac Disease Foundation Student Ambassadors to keep their support going year-round.
