New series will bring candid conversations about diagnosis, daily life, research, and the search for treatments beyond the gluten-free diet to a global audience

October 15, 2026 — Celiac disease has never had a platform — or a voice — quite like this.

The Celiac Disease Foundation has announced the launch of Inside Celiac, a new signature podcast hosted by acclaimed actress Katie Lowes, known to millions for her standout roles in Scandal, Inventing Anna, and The Hunting Wives. Drawing on her extraordinary ability to connect with audiences and her deeply personal experience living with celiac disease, Lowes will lead candid conversations that bring greater national attention to this serious, often-overlooked autoimmune condition.

Each episode of Inside Celiac will bring together leading medical and nutrition experts, patients, advocates, researchers, and other influential voices to explore what it truly means to live with celiac disease. Topics will include the often-long road to diagnosis, the everyday realities of maintaining a strict gluten-free diet, emotional health, family life, pediatric celiac disease, long-term medical care, groundbreaking research, clinical trials, and the urgent search for treatments beyond the diet.

“Living with celiac disease affects so much more than what is on your plate. It shapes how you travel, celebrate, work, parent, and move through the world,” said Lowes. “I am thrilled to host Inside Celiac and create a space where people can hear honest stories, learn from trusted experts, and feel less alone. This series is about giving our community a stronger voice while helping the broader public understand the very real impact of this disease.”

Celiac disease is a serious genetic autoimmune disorder in which ingestion of gluten causes damage to the small intestine and can lead to significant short-and long-term health consequences. Its symptoms can vary widely, contributing to delayed and missed diagnoses. While a strict gluten-free diet is currently the only treatment, maintaining the diet can be medically, socially, emotionally, and financially burdensome.

“Inside Celiac represents a significant new chapter in how we educate, engage, and advocate for the celiac disease community,” said Marilyn G. Geller, chief executive officer of the Celiac Disease Foundation. “By pairing Katie’s recognizable voice and powerful storytelling with the Foundation’s trusted expertise and international reach, we have an extraordinary opportunity to elevate celiac disease in the public conversation. We want millions of people affected by this disease to feel seen and heard while building greater awareness of the urgent need for earlier diagnosis, better care, and treatments beyond the gluten-free diet.”

The series will translate complex medical and scientific topics into accessible conversations while centering the lived experiences of patients and families. Planned episodes will explore the current state of celiac disease, the diagnostic journey, manifestations beyond the gastrointestinal system, pediatric care, gluten-free nutrition and labeling, follow-up care, mental health and quality of life, persistent symptoms, disease prediction and prevention, clinical trials, emerging therapies, and the future of celiac disease care.

“The science of celiac disease is advancing rapidly, but there remains a considerable gap between what researchers and clinicians are learning and what patients, families, and the wider public understand about the condition,” said Dawn Adams, M.D., president of the Society for the Study of Celiac Disease. “Inside Celiac can help close that gap by bringing accurate, evidence-based information into engaging and relatable conversations.”

Through Lowes’ authentic and approachable hosting style, Inside Celiac will invite listeners into conversations that are informative, inspiring, and grounded in both scientific evidence and real-world experience. The podcast will also highlight the people driving progress across the celiac disease community, from researchers pursuing new diagnostics and therapies to advocates working to improve food safety, access to care, and quality of life.

Inside Celiac premieres on Thursday, October 15, 2026, with new episodes available on the third Thursday of each month. Listeners can find the series on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, iHeart, YouTube, and all platforms where podcasts are hosted.
