In a major step forward for the celiac disease community, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN) established the bipartisan Congressional Celiac Disease Caucus during the 117th Congress in 2021. This marked the first time in history that celiac disease has had formal, organized representation in Congress—an essential milestone in our fight for increased federal recognition, research funding, and better support for the millions of Americans living with this serious, chronic autoimmune disease.

The Celiac Disease Caucus was created to advance legislation and secure federal funding that will drive progress in diagnosing, treating, and ultimately curing celiac disease. Growing the Caucus is one of the highest legislative priorities for the Celiac Disease Foundation. A strong, engaged Caucus can make a real difference—helping to amplify the voices of patients, researchers, and healthcare providers, and pushing for action at the federal level.

Building on this important cause and raising awareness on Capitol Hill is essential, and we need your help!
