Each November the Celiac Disease Foundation hosts our annual Turkey Trot, an inspirational event that raises funds for celiac disease research to accelerate treatments and a cure. For 2023, the Foundation is proud to have exceeded our fundraising goals while uniting our community through this fun event.
On November 11 and 12, more than 1,200 supporters from 38 states and countries around the world laced up to move 3.1 miles (5K) for a cure. The virtual style of the event allowed Trotters to participate from anywhere – on their own or with a team. Each participant received an event t-shirt, bandana, the option of a matching bandana for their pet, along with a fundraising page, bib, race marker kit, finishing certificate, and special offers and coupons from our Proud Sponsors.
Starting as a regional gathering in New York seven years ago with just over 100 people, the Turkey Trot has grown rapidly, transforming into a beloved event that empowers our community while cultivating lasting relationships. Creating virtual teams with friends and family across the nation – and globally – continues to expand the Foundation’s reach, strengthening our community and shared mission. This year we were also delighted to partner with Vanderbilt University’s Celiac Disease Clinic for its inaugural in-person Turkey Trot near Nashville, Tennessee; stay tuned for our planned expansion to other celiac disease centers in 2024 and beyond!
As our 2023 event concludes, we extend our profound gratitude to all the participants, sponsors, and donors who made this event a success with their tremendous fundraising efforts. We invite you to view photos from our Turkey Trot weekend here.
