The Celiac Disease Foundation proudly demonstrated its global leadership in the celiac disease community and commitment to global partnerships at the first ever Latin American Society for the Study of Celiac Disease (LASSCD) 2024 Symposium in Buenos Aires from November 20th-21st. Countries from all over the world were represented, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Paraguay, Spain, United States, and Uruguay.

CEO Marilyn Geller delivered a presentation on the Celiac Disease Foundation’s current initiatives supporting the celiac community and outlined strategies to expand these efforts in Latin America. She also participated in a panel discussion addressing the challenges faced by the celiac community, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to advancing celiac disease awareness and education across the region.

Chief Education and Community Engagement Officer Vanessa Weisbrod presented the new findings of a cross contamination study conducted in home kitchens on toasters, and a second presentation about bridging the gap between remote access to celiac disease and gluten-free diet education. Weisbrod also presented strategies focused on helping Latin American celiac societies enhance their outstanding efforts in educating communities, connect them with vital resources, and drive meaningful policy changes in their respective countries.
