Celiac Disease Foundation is proud to have Dr. Shayna Coburn, PhD, as the featured speaker at the CDF Arizona Chapter Medical Night on September 21, 2016. Dr. Coburn was also a featured speaker at CDF’s National Conference on April 30, 2016 where she spoke about the psychological impact of celiac disease.
Dr. Shayna Skelley Coburn is a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral research fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Adherence Research Center. During her graduate studies at Arizona State University, she was diagnosed with celiac disease, an experience which has informed her work and driven her passion for research and patient advocacy in chronic illness. She completed her clinical internship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she became involved with the Celiac Disease Program and continues to participate in educational workshops and outreach events. Dr. Coburn’s research focuses on improving adherence to medical treatment through effective communication between parents, children, and medical providers.
