Join us for a family-friendly weekend November 12 & 13 for the Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge to support celiac disease research and receive gluten-free prizes!

What is the Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge?

Have you ever thought: “One day, I’ll take a trip across the country?” Well, this is your chance! The annual CDF Turkey Trot raises funds to support celiac disease research, and since 2020, we have gone virtual with our Cross-Country Challenge!

The Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge will take place over two days: November 12 and 13, 2022. The final day to register online is November 9, midnight PST.

We encourage you to fundraise, build your team, and meet other participants in our private Facebook Group as we prepare for this cross-country event taking place on November 12 and 13, 2022.

Over these two days, you will move a total of 3.1 miles using the Walker Tracker app to count your steps. Each step you take will be applied through the app as if you are traveling across the country, starting in New York and ending in Los Angeles.

To make things even better, ANY movement – walking, running, gardening, yoga, biking, cleaning, etc. – will count as “steps” toward your goal, so anyone can participate from anywhere!

Not only will you be rewarded with special discounts and offers for going these 3.1 miles with us and accelerating celiac disease research, but we will also be awarding prizes to the top 3 individual fundraisers and top 3 team fundraisers on November 16!

Before the race, registered participants will also receive a downloadable bib and race kit to use on their cross-country journey, along with a downloadable finishing certificate to acknowledge the hard work of raising funds and awareness to support celiac disease research. Dogs, cats, and furry friends will receive one bandana per pet registration.

When should I expect to receive my t-shirt and bandana?

Register by October 6 to receive your t-shirt and bandana in time for the Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge. Orders placed after October 6 may not receive the t-shirt before the event or the size of their choice. T-shirts and bandanas will only be shipped to addresses in the United States.

How can I meet others who are participating?

Once you have registered, you will have access to a private CDF Turkey Trot Facebook Group to meet others in the celiac community. This event fosters community connection and creates a unique opportunity to form lasting relationships. The Facebook Group is a place to share stories, photos, videos, fundraising tips, and more.

What does fundraising involve?

Fundraising for the Turkey Trot is encouraged and is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of celiac disease! The funds you raise directly accelerate celiac disease research for treatments and a cure.

If you would like to fundraise as an individual, join an existing team, or create a new team, you must click “Yes” to “Will you be creating a personal fundraiser?” Only people who answer “Yes” can join or create an online team. Clicking “No” means you are registering as an individual, will not have a fundraising page, and cannot join or create a team online.

Upon registration you will receive a fundraising page that can be personalized with your photo, celiac story, details about why raising funds and promoting awareness is important to you, and your personal fundraising goal. We will also provide you with helpful tips and tricks for successful fundraising. Be sure to share your page with friends and family via email and social media, using the hashtag #iMove4Celiac in your posts.

The top 3 individual fundraisers and top 3 team fundraisers will win big prizes on November 13!

Winners must sign a waiver allowing the Celiac Disease Foundation to provide their mailing address to sponsors for prize delivery.

Do I need to join or make a virtual team?

Being a part of a virtual team is encouraged but not required. Creating a team provides support for families and groups of fundraisers. With multiple team members raising funds and educating their networks, the message is amplified to new people and supporters.

What is the Walker Tracker app?

Walker Tracker is the app we are using for the Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge to reward you with gluten-free offers on November 12 and 13. Registered participants will receive instructions on how to download and use the app before the Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge. Steps or activities completed on the app before November 12 will not count toward the Virtual Turkey Trot Cross-Country Challenge 3.1-mile goal.
