Job Description: 

Are you driven to bring awareness to celiac disease and help solve the critical issues that impact the health of those affected? The Communications Manager will play an important role in advancing the Celiac Disease Foundation’s vision of promoting awareness, education, and advocate engagement.  

The ideal candidate for this role will possess, and will demonstrate through verifiable examples during the interview process: superior organizational, administrative, writing, and interpersonal skills, clear and effective communication, campaign development experience, top-notch social media skills across all platforms – including mastery of analytics and report generation, understanding of and passion for the non-profit advocacy space, strong detail orientation, the ability to take direction and follow projects to completion with enthusiasm and creativity, and thriving in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a robust annual communications strategy that addresses donor and supporter interests, including collaborating with other team members to assure that digital and print content align with the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share Foundation content across multiple platforms, including social media, blogs, websites, and digital and print publications.
  • Develop and implement communications strategies to promote Foundation public policy agenda and advocate engagement/mobilization.
  • Conceptualize, deploy, and evaluate social media strategies to connect with the Foundation’s audience. Stay apprised of supporter interests through regular review of celiac disease and gluten-free diet news and digital content.
  • Prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material for Foundation engagements. 
  • Create content across multiple platforms for annual fundraising campaigns, including May Celiac Disease Awareness Month, Gluten-Free Auction, Turkey Trot, Gift of Hope, and other campaigns as needed. 
  • Maintain style guide and ensure continuity of the Foundation’s brand, image, and consistent messages in all external communications.
  • Perform all other job-related responsibilities and duties as required. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree. 
    • Understanding of and passion for the non-profit advocacy space.  
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or another related field. 
    • Superior writing is a key requirement for this role, coupled with strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience with marketing and social media analytics.  
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. 
    • Strong understanding of Adobe creative platforms including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is not required but is a major plus. 
    • Experience with non-profit CRM preferred. 
    • Demonstrated ability to proactively, effectively manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines. 
    • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail. 
    • Ability to take direction and follow projects to completion with enthusiasm and creativity. 
    • Willingness to take initiative and awareness of when to consult supervisor for direction. 
    • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. 
    • A strong belief in the organization’s mission, goals, and accomplishments.  
    • Ability to represent the Celiac Disease Foundation in a mature and professional manner. 
    • Ability to successfully work independently and with a team and maintain flexibility; willingness to quickly adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
