What is the Turkey Trot?

The annual Celiac Disease Foundation Turkey Trot raises funds to support celiac disease research, and since 2020, we have gone virtual!

The 2023 Turkey Trot will take place over two days: November 11 and 12, 2023. The final day to register online is November 10, midnight PST.

Over these two days, you will move a total of 3.1 miles (5k). While distance can be mapped on the app of your choice, tracking is optional and not required to participate in the event. Recommended apps include, but are not limited to: Fitbit, Garmin, Map My Fitness, Apple Fitness, and Strava.

We encourage you to fundraise, build your team, and meet other participants in our private Facebook Group.

All participants of the 2023 Turkey Trot will receive special discounts and offers from our Proud Sponsors. You will also be eligible for the prizes that we’ll be awarding to the top 3 individual fundraisers and top 3 team fundraisers on November 16. While we are so grateful for everyone’s participation, please do note that we are only able to ship sponsor prizes within the contiguous United States.

How can I meet others who are participating?

Once you have registered, you will receive access to our private Turkey Trot Facebook Group to meet others in our runner community if this is something you’d like to do. This event fosters connection and creates a unique opportunity to form lasting relationships, and our Facebook group is a place to share stories, photos, videos, fundraising tips, and more.

What does fundraising involve?

Fundraising for the Turkey Trot is encouraged and is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of celiac disease! The funds you raise directly accelerate celiac disease research for treatments and a cure.

If you would like to fundraise as an individual, join an existing team, or create a new team, you must click “Yes”” to “Will you be creating a personal fundraiser?”” Only people who answer “Yes” can join or create an online team. Clicking “No” means you are registering as an individual, will not have a fundraising page, and cannot join or create a team online.

Upon registration you will receive a fundraising page that can be personalized with your photo, celiac disease story, your personal fundraising goal, and details about why raising funds and promoting awareness is important to you. We will also provide you with helpful tips and tricks for successful fundraising. Be sure to share your page with friends and family via email and social media, using the hashtag #iMove4Celiac in your posts.

The top 3 individual fundraisers and top 3 team fundraisers will win big prizes on November 16! Winners must sign a waiver allowing the Celiac Disease Foundation to provide their mailing address to sponsors for prize delivery. While we are so grateful for everyone’s participation, please do note that we are only able to ship sponsor prizes within the contiguous United States

Do I need to join or make a virtual team?

Being a part of a virtual team is encouraged but not required. Creating a team provides support for families and groups of fundraisers. With multiple team members raising funds and educating their networks, the message is amplified to new people and supporters.
